Lego Movie HW #3

20th Oct 20

There are THREE sections of the FAMILY TARGET AUDIENCE: kids who like Lego; parents of kids who used to play with Lego themselves; young cinema goers.

  • Explain how The Lego Movie appeals to each of them using the following areas:
    • Characters
    • Narrative
    • Settings
    • Themes

Kids Who Like Lego:

The characters will appeal to kids because they likely play with Lego and so will recognise it and like the movie if they like Lego. The narrative would be appealing because the characters are going through different worlds made of Lego and children tens to want lots of Lego so would really like the idea of many worlds of Lego. The theme of Lego throughout would be appealing because it is 90% Lego and so the children would love that because Lego is fun and cool so a whole movie about it would be very appealing.

Adults who have kids and used to play with Lego themselves:

The characters would be appealing to the adults because there are a few retro characters from when they were children as well as well known super hero's who they could potentially like. The narrative could be appealing because it is a simple yet effective narrative that is understood and enjoyable for all ages. The settings could be appealing because the parents might have built some of the settings or parts of those settings and so would like to see them in a just Lego world. The themes of Lego and many different worlds could be appealing because of the different worlds liking into the story line of the matrix which the adults would have likely seen and potentially enjoyed.

Young Cinema Goers:

The characters could be appealing because they would at this age have just stopped playing with Lego or are about to stop and so they would recognise some of the characters and enjoy the separate films that they are in or just like/remember the character. The narrative is similar to the matrix which they might have seen and enjoyed as well as it being a Lego version would be quite interesting. The settings of different world would be appealing because it shows the different landscapes off as well as so much you can make out of Lego. The themes of wanting to glue the world in one place would be interesting and relatable because at this age everything they do are told is run and monitored by adults so they could like to the themes of being trapped and stick in their place.

  • What methods did they use to PROMOTE the Lego Movie and how did it target the different parts of the target audience? You should talk about the following methods:
    • Poster Campaign
    • TV Advertising
    • Film Trailers
    • Social Media
    • Merchandise

One method of promotion was that of having one main poster with practically every character on it as well as having many other posters which was centred around just one character and this then appealed to older people because it has retro character but also younger people because it ha super hero's on others. They also had a whole ad break of a few Lego movie adverts but also other adverts of the time made out of Lego to raise awareness of the film and to get people to experience what the film could do as well as the sort of stuff involved and it was view by most people because lots of people from lots of age ranges watch Television. Film trailers were also release on Tv as well as Social media and other places on the internet to spread the movie out their but also to different age groups from adults to young cinema goers. Merchandise was also like a Lego movie game which had the same story as the Movie so it allowed people to play it and feel more involved with the story and feel as though they are making an impact on the story.

Lego Movie HW #2

4th Oct 20

1. Toderov claims that any film narrative can be divided into the following five steps:
  • Equilibrium
  • Disruption of equilibrium
  • Recognition of disruption
  • Attempt to resolve disruption
  • New equilibrium
Explain how The Lego Movie narrative (storyline) fits Toderov's theory.

The Lego movie starts off in an equilibrium of emmet thinking " Everything is awesome" and goes through his normal everyday life as if it were normal. Until when leaving work he notices a figure of someone who shouldn't be their and she explains Lord businesses plans and so disrupts the equilibrium, and this is then recognised when emmet and the crew he's with are chased by police through man different Lego settings and especially recognise when they realise what the 'Taco Tuesday' means that Lord business will glue the world in one position to stop people building what they want. The attempt to stop this is by Emmet telling citizens to build what they want to attack Lord businesses army of robots and Emmet goes to see Lord business in his ship and talks him out of gluing everyone/thing. This leads to the new equilibrium where everyone can build what they want as they please and live amongst the Duplo beings.

  • Explain what a POSTMODERNIST film is. What features would it include?
  • The Lego Movie is a POSTMODERNIST film. Explain how the The Lego Movie fits this term.
A Postmodernist film is a film that questions reality and everything that is said to be real, and it includes features such as Challenging genre conventions, Pastiche and Hyper reality. Th Lego Movie is a postmodernist film because it challenges different genre conventions like: Comedy, Sci-fi and children's... This also reflex's upon classic character roles, Emmet is the funny main character, fictional and kid friendly making him likable, Wyldstyle challenges this because she has all of the special skills at the start but ends up being equal to Emmet come the end, and the exact same can be said for other characters. The Lego Movie also uses Pastiche as the movie imitates the Matix in a way because the story lines are similar, because The Lego Movie was based off of the Matrix, then it makes fun of the real world by having the real world scenes in the film and the fact of lord business running the Lego world is like us being controlled by a higher being/body. The Lego Movie also uses Hyper-reality in the way of reminding the audience that they are watching a movie by having the real life scenes closer to the end when the audience is likely grasped/pulled into the film too much so they need to be taken back to the reality or the reality as we know it.

My Chosen film: Fast and furious Hobbs and Shaw

Director: David Leitch

Producer: Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Chris Morgan and Hiram Garcia
Production company: Seven Bucks Productions
Distribution company: Universal pictures
Release date: 13th July 2019
Genre: Action, Comedy

In London, team of MI6 agents attempt to retrieve a programmable super virus dubbed "Snowflake" from terrorist organization Eteon. Brixton, an Eteon operative with cybernetic implants that allow him to perform superhuman feats, arrives and kills all the agents except one agent, who injects Snowflake into herself before escaping. Brixton frames her for killing her team and stealing Snowflake, forcing her to go on the run.
Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw are both informed of the missing virus and are reluctantly assigned to work together to track it down. After a brief meeting at a CIA black site, Deckard goes to Hattie's house for information, while Hobbs manages to find Hattie; after a brief scuffle, he brings her to the CIA office, as Deckard then returns. The office is attacked, and Hattie, who is then revealed by show to be Deckard's sister, is taken by Brixton, whom Deckard recognizes as an old colleague-turned-enemy he'd previously shot and supposedly killed. Hobbs and Deckard pursue and rescue Hattie then ensuing in a car chase, managing to escape from Brixton, who crashes into a double-decker bus. However, Brixton frames all three as traitors via Eteon's control of global news media.
The three locate Professor Andreiko, who created Snowflake to efficiently deliver vaccines, who informs them that to prevent Eteon from using Snowflake to eradicate humanity, Hattie, while the virus is still dormant, must either be cremated or have the virus removed with a specialized extraction device, located in Eteon's headquarters in Chernobyl, Ukraine. After flying undercover to Moscow and rendezvousing with Deckard's girlfriend to rearm, the three infiltrate the facility. They manage to retrieve the extraction device before escaping and destroying the facility; however, Andreiko is killed, and the device is damaged during their escape.
Hobbs takes the trio to his childhood home in Samoa to visit his brother Jonah, a talented mechanic, to repair the device and lay low before confronting Brixton again. Hobbs has a tense reunion with his family, but Jonah is eventually persuaded to help them by their mother. The makeshift battalion prepares for Eteon's arrival, setting up a variety of traps around the island. Jonah successfully repairs the device and starts the virus extraction, just as Brixton and his army arrive. In the ensuing battle, all of Brixton's soldiers are defeated. Brixton retakes Hattie via helicopter; however, Hobbs, Deckard, and the Samoans bring the aircraft down. Working together, Hobbs and Deckard defeat Brixton, who is remotely terminated afterward by Eteon's never-seen director. The director send a message claiming to know Hobbs and intending to persuade him and the Shaw siblings, while they promise to find the director. The group celebrates their victory.
In mid and post-credits scenes, Hobbs brings his daughter to meet their extended family in Samoa; Deckard and Hattie are implied to break their mother out of prison; and Hobbs receives a call from his partner, Locke, informing him that he had broken into a facility and discovered another virus worse than the Snowflake virus.

The key parts to the movie are, 'snowflake' inside Hattie and her being on the run, the trio getting 'snowflake' out of her safely and the super human Brixton chasing them the whole movie and eventually losing to regular humans. If some events happened in a different order non of the story would make sense and wouldn't be very popular.

We know the story takes place in London to start because we see iconic landmarks, and the same with the Ukraine, and Samoa is implied to be the last location. The story is about Hattie and 'snowflake' virus. The story takes roughly 3 days to all fully pan out. I think the trio were living normal lives before this story had taken place. I think after this story ends they will go after a more powerful virus that is mentioned at the end of the current movie. This story reminds me of others in the fact that a bad guy try's to get something, but fails and is trying to get it from one of the main characters but constantly fails, until they give up in order to carry out a plan to get it back which they do successfully and then they hid for a bit until the bad guy comes with a big army and lose bad guy try's to escape with the thing they want but fail and fight the main characters and then the main characters win and all is fine. The End.

I would like for the story to continue with the main characters going the other super virus mentioned

My film has a Linear story line.

Equilibrium - The characters are all living normal lives doing their day to day routine as usuall

Disruption - Hattie's team is attacked and killed while she runs, the other two main characters get told this by high powers and have to go and meet to work out how they do this and argue until they go off to find intel.

Recognition - The main trio know what's going on and the family connection between two of the three and then once they find out what's going on fully bad guy comes and takes Hattie because what he wants is inside of her, the other two main characters get her back and the are chased, but get away.

Attempt to solve - The trio decide to raid the bad guy base to get the thing to get the virus out of Hattie and meet an old friend of one of the characters and get gear to infiltrate they willingly surrender the girl through the old friend, then they infiltrate and get the device and get out but it break's then they fix it kill the bad guy and his army and then this leads into the new equilibrium.

New Equilibrium - The two family members talk to each other more and the other goes back to his family, then one of the two family members, the brother, get a call from an associate about an even more powerful super virus that they have to get and destroy or stabilise.

L/O: To explore the use of characterisation in films

1 Clint Eastwood
2 Gary Oldman
3 Al Pacino
4 Tom Cruise
5 Jennifer Aniston
6 George Clooney
7 Leonardo Dicaprio
8 Patrick Stewart
9 Sean Connery
10 Drew Barrymore
11 Danial Radcliffe
12 Christian Bale

Main characters actors: Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby
Protagonist: Luke Hobbs, A DSS again working for the CIA, age ?, Get the job done personality
Deckard Shaw, A former MI6 Mercenary, age ?, Get the job done his way
Hattie Shaw, A current MI6 field operative, age ?, Loyal sister
Antagonist: Brixton: A cyber-genetically engineered terrorist, and former MI6 agent alongside Shaw
Sidekick: Professor Andreiko, A professor who made the 'Snowflake'
Queenie Shaw, Mother to Hattie and Deckard
Main Pay: Dwyane: $20 Million = £16,194,000
                  Jason: $13 Million  = £10,526,100
                  Idris: $8 Million = £6,477,600
Dwayne and Jason could have had more because they were also producers.

The story is about them getting a super virus called 'Snowflake'.
The story is told by the characters as they are doing it.
The main characters look very menacing and powerful.
The way the look tells us that these characters can and will do any thing to get something there way.
Hobbs and shaw are constantly insulting each other and appear to hate each other. They also behave in this way too.
They behave sarcastically and also normally to other characters.
NO characters have particular sounds or music.
My most interesting character is Deckard Shaw as well as Luke Hobbs.
I would like to see some more characters from the fast and furious genre
The story would be completely different if one of Hobbs or Shaw was taken away because they wouldn't be able to make fun of each other and make the comedy aspect of the film.

L/O: To apply narrative theory to our own ideas

1 Sex in the city
2 Silence of the lambs
3 Harry potter
4 The blare which project
5 The polar express
6 Planet of the apes
7 Life of Pi
8 Nightmare at the museum

This is my story board

Old man 1(Man with light cream top): The main character, called Abe Simpson, and he is a elderly army general who is one step closer to the platoons treasure, but 'Burnsey' stands in his way.

Child ( Abe' grandson): The sidekick that appears halfway through and steels Abe's key and Burnsey off of Brunsey once he had taken them, he is the one to swim down and get the treausre.

Old man 2 (Burnsey): The antagonist to Abe and his grandson and also wants the treasure, despite already being rich and also wants to kill his general.

Men in suits: The men in suits at the end are government agents monitoring all of the platoon after they were suspected to have stolen artworks during the fall of the German empire at the end of WWII, they then seize the artwork and return it to the German's and all is over.

I would put Abe as the Hero who discovers the treasure, and Burnsey to be the Villain, and Abe's grandchild to be the helper. I would put the government agents as the false hero's claiming to have found the treasure to the German's. The letter informing Abe of Asa's death is sort of a calling for Abe to go for the treasure and not let Burnsey to get it, and so the letter is figuratively the dispatcher. The princess would be the treasure and the princesses father would be the German's.

L/O: Toexplore the use of camerawork in films.

I don't know movie posters.

1. Pedding shot
2. ?
3. Panning shot
4. Tracking shot
5. Extreme close up
6. Long shot
7. Mid shot
8. Establishing shot
9. Eye level shot
10. Low angle shot

These shots are, for top to bottom: Birds eye view, Low angle and View point

The birds eye shot is used for showing the vertical scene, while the low angle shot is showing the the character trying to break free and the final one is showing the view point of the character trying to see how he can move out of the way of the punch. The bottom picture we are seeing the view point form the antagonist while the others are just normal view points, this view point of the antagonist is one of a few but the story is not told through his view point or his knowledge of events. The camera moves for some panning, zooming and tracking shots which I have captured in the gallery above the task slide. The camera helps in telling the story because it follows the main characters but it also shows the antagonists view points as well. The birds eye view shot is then followed up by a close up on the man in the middle ,who is the antagonist, because it is showing what each charcater is going through, I think anyways. We can tell that in the low angle shot the character is thinking of breaking the arm off of the chair because of his struggling facial expression. The shots in this story do change quite often in fight scenes or escape scenes, but other times they don't change so fast.

L/O: To explore the settings and colours in films

Movie quotes quiz 10/10

1 To have a spooky and scary setting to help with tension
2 To have lots of room to fight and run around
3 To have an nice setting for romance
4 To show the adventure across the globe
5 To show the seriousness of the films plot

1 Blue shows optimism which is a good trait for a hero, while red connotes popularity and passion.

2 Black connotes death, danger and evil which is what most villains are/ do.

3 Bright colours connote happiness and a good emotion which is want would be require to make a comedy movie.

The action takes place in the streets of London, an unknow secret base of the villains, a remote island and a cliff side area, I think the story is set in these areas to sow where the characters have had to go and what they have had to do in order for things to turn out the way they are supposed to. The setting changes after every major actions scene or important scene. The setting changes by the characters going somewhere else in order to not be caught. You could tell where the story was taking place because you could see land marks or there was some handy on screen text telling you where the characters were ore they would mention where they were going. I do think parts of the story could have taken place in different locations because the location for a few scenes isn't that important. No you cannot tell when the story is taking place. Some clues to tell you when the story was set it was around modern/today times. I think certain colours were used to express the characters personality. I think it is important to have colours in a film because then the viewers would be able to connote things about the characters and setting. If the film was 1 colour/ black and white I don't think it would change the film too much.

Left film poster.

I would say that this takes place during a war or when every where is disserted because of the colour scheme.

Middle film poster

I would say this about a virus because of the symbol behind the writing as well as the colour red showing danger.

I would set the movies starting point in a lab and have the characters find out about the virus and then send half out to find out info while the rest stay in and research about it and find out as much as possible, once the half that left returned or where know to be dead or captured or when there is enough information found out then I would send the scientist out to get some weapons and reinforcements and then send them after the rouge scientist to capture and kill him and destroy the virus and save all, or I would let the virus get distributed in one area and have then next movie about containing the virus and destroying it.

Movie quiz: 47% / 14/30

L/O: To explore the use of sound in films

Movie quiz 14/26, 9 of those 14 were guesses.

1 ery / scary music
2 fast pace energising music
3 ?
4 Funny music
5 ?

? = I'm not sure what the genre is like so don't know fitting music.

The sounds from the TV, the door, the Phone, the box, the dog, the dog hitting the floor, the dog hitting the cabinet.

Door slamming - a loud bang
Dog barking - a sharp bark
An alien - ?

There is music that makes you feel that something bad is happening, and the music kicks in once the bad guys break into the building. The music changes from nothing and a walking sound to a glass shattering and the 'bad' music for the arrival of the bad guys through the window. Yes you can tell what is happening without the picture because you can hear the guns shots, there is a few moments of silence followed by some action music, and the characters do speak. There is rappelling and gun sound effects in the scene and all the sounds sound lounder in the film than they would have been in real life to make them more predominant and noticeable.

I would put some ere music just before the alien wakes and some sounds of utensils while the scientists are operating, then I would have a climax of the sound when the alien awakes and when it disappears into thin air, but while it is running around I would have sounds of tables falling over and stuff falling off of those tables, and foot steps of both the alien and the scientists and then an unknow  sound for when the alien disappears as well as the climax of the music again.

1.Foley
2. Diegetic and Non-diegetic
3. Non-Diegetic
4. Foley is sounds put in after the film has been shot to make them more predominant and emirs you into the film.

5. Pirates of the Caribbean
6. Transformers
7. The Incredibles
8. The Lion King
9. Return of the jedi
10. Finding Nemo

By looking at the room we can connote that this is a stereotypical messy teenagers room because of all of the cloths slung around and the unmade bed, we can also connote this because there is a poster on the wall nest to 2 guitars.

1. ?
2. A romantic tropical island with lots of nice bright things like blooming flowers.
3. An abandoned place all run down and desolate with old, antique props

The character on the left (Indian Johns) has an explorer esc outfit suggesting that he is an explorer and the makeup also shows this with un treated skin.

The character in the middle has a hair style that looks well kept and well kept makeup suggesting that she spends a lot of time and money on nice things to make her self look good, while her costume suggests that she is a collage student that is very girly.

The final character on the right has an untidy hair cut suggesting he doesn't keep on to of it or that he is nervious about something which links into his facial expression, his clothing also suggests that he is a bit older or the film is set in an older time.

The meaning and emotion conveyed from the photo on the left is, a quite dinner in with a few people and is very formal and an overall good/happy emotion.

While the meaning of the photo on the right suggest that the character in the middle is mad about something, and the emotion is a bad/concerned emotion.

The positioning of the characters in the left photo suggest that the 2 have just fallen out and are annoyed with each other and so don't want to talk or be next to the other. While the positioning of the charcters on the right suggest that the 2 men are working together and are 'cool' guys by the way they are standing and have sunglasses on while inside.

The setting and props in this shot connote wealth and security through the expensive looking chairs and candle holder as well as amount of food on the table, and the presents of the 2 men with guns/bayonets both in matching clothing suggest that they are guards of sorts and have capture someone for one reason or another. The costume of the man in the middle suggest that he is a pirate and has been captured because of something illegal/bad he has committed and so is now being punished by someone of wealth and high status, and to go with that his facial expression shows that he is either listening or being cut off by the other person. While the guards facial expression shows their professionalism of the job that they are doing. The lighting is high key lighting in order to show off the characters and the setting in the scene and the colours of the room and furniture also suggest wealth while the pirate in the middle has darker colours of clothing suggesting he isn't as wealthy as the person who owns the building that he is currently in side of. Finally the positioning of the two men around the pirate suggest that they are guards because they are standing with one hand behind him ready to grab him if necessary and having there other hand on their weapon again if necessary, and the positioning of the pirate shows he could be surrendering by the placement of his hands or just talking while waving his hands about, and the placement of the food is supposed to be tempting to the pirate who very likely cannot afford that food or has never seen/eaten that food and so is meant to be tempting to him and also the viewer watching the film.

1. Props and settings.
2. Costume, hair and makeup.
3. Facial expressions and body language.
4. positioning of the character(s).
5. Lighting and colours.

The 2 main types of lighting used in films is, High key lighting and Low key lighting.

L/O: To explore the disaster movie genre

Disaster movies list:
The Impossible - I have seen this movie in school and id the only 1 on the list that I have seen.
Titanic - I have seen parts of the titanic movie but not the full movie.
Armageddon - I have seen clips of the movie but not the whole thing.
Godzilla - Again I have seen clips but not the whole movie.

The 3 Disaster movies I will be using are:
The Impossible - I have seen before.
Godzilla - I haven't seen before.
Titanic - I haven't seen before

The Impossible:
The main characters are 4 males and 1 female, I which the family are split up and must reunite which is the movies plot, and fits into the natural disaster which is an tsunami which the main characters overcome and then leave by plane at the end once they are rescued. This movie is similar to Titanic because Titanic is also a natural disaster in which the vessel hits an iceberg, and while on the Titanic the boat is continually traveling.

Independence day seems to be set in a city that is being destroyed by a UFO, that is a dark colour firing an light blue laser which is causing a normal orange flame and suggest the narrative is about stopping an attack by some aliens destroying an city.

Godzilla is shown in the poster and is the main threat that is destroyed a city which is similar to Independence day the dark and small amount of bright colours connote that Godzilla is evil and that the saturated colours connote fire and destruction. The words ' King of the monsters' suggest that he is very powerful and is a force to be feared and not recond with.

The poster for contagion shows 6 characters which can be inferred to be the main characters or main antagonists, there isn't a setting that is visible but the presents of 2 phone looking object suggest it is set in a more modern time, while the character in the top rights actions suggest that he could be indanger and be harmed, the main yellow colour connotes knowledge, energy and agility suggesting that these characters are the heros and are valued. The words 'Nothing spreads like fear' suggest that there is something that is filling people with fear and putting them at risk.

1. The main characters will criminals that the government has turned to for their help, they will be a crack team with 4 in the field, the smartly dressed wealthy 'crim' who doesn't speak and is an excellent fighter, then the cyborg human a person mostly human except with a part robot face, next is the person seen as the 'leader' who is an ace piolet, then we have easily angered 'war machine' person who is a brilliant mercinary. Then there is a few extra people who are the back-up who are just as good as the main guys, first is a similarly good mercenary as the other guy but acts like a child tactically, then there is a serial killer looking guy who has hidden talents that no one can explain, then there is a guy who tends to wear just underwear but is a stealth expert, then there is the complaining black guy who finds everything racist but still has a laugh and is also a mercinary, then there is a duo who when raging can reek havock and cause some damage, finally there is the comic relief character who is a bearable fighter but is constantly needing help and letting the side down but is there to provide the comic relief.

The disaster starts off by having an inelegance agency being under threat and the crew need to stop it by jumping through lots of hoops to stop it before it happens but they end up stopping it as it is happening, the there is a threat of national security a Russian submarine is spotted off the cost and has a revolutionist who would love to take over the USA and he is believed to be prepairing for it once found he is actually coming after the guy who has been sending the crew on missions because he was the threat who now has turned. Then the final disaster is the threat of the rouge guy launching a nuke and the crew must cripple his cloned super soldier army before storming the launch base and ending the rouge guy and his A.I.

1 of the other characters is the rouge guy, the second is another 'crim' who is a mastermind and is roped into being a dispature and intelegence, the next character is the Russian revolutionist who becomes a spy to help take out the rouge guy, then there is 2 agents from the intelligence agency from the first disaster who help supply the crew with fire power and protection and most importantly authorisation to complete the necessary criteria to reduce the threats.

The character who dies will be the crews get away driver who is driving them away form a totally legitimate business deal, and is killed by the mercenary's who are threatening the intelligence agency.

I want to have multiple fights mainly gun fights and 1 or 2 weaponised vehicle fights, and I want to have the submarine set to blow up to cause the characters who entre to have to flee before exploding, and I also want to have 1 or 2 chase scenes while the crew are preparing to tackle the disaster or fighting the fleeing disaster causers.

The crew manipulate the rouge guys A.I. to help then and then they chase the rouge guy and eliminate him and the A.I before they launch the nuke, I would like to have the chase scene happen with the main 4 guys and the rouge guy on jet packs and have enemy helicopters chasing to intensify the chase scene.

The film ends with the whole crew - main and back-up characters - meeting the intelligence agency who say they have saved the world and that the world owes them and they are left to go back to their ways before the disaster threats continuing on there other wise illegal business occurrences.

The film could have many names, a few that I have fantasised are:
Doomsday
The End ?
The Triple Threat (Because of the threat of 3 disasters)

L/O: To effectively develop an idea for a disaster movie.

1 The day after Tomorrow
2 2012
3 The Impossible
4 Titanic ?
5 Godzilla ?
6 Twister

Setting: Fictional place called San Andreas in the year 2017
Mood: There should be an uneasing, concerned but also controlled mood, this should be shown by the             characters expressions and body language as well as the actions of the movie and threats.
Filming: The film should be shot on a Steadicam and tripod to ensure that the shots that are taken are                steady when they need to be but then also should be shot by a hand held system for when                    the shots need to be wobbling and un-steady. The colours in some places should be dark and                menacing especially when in times of need, desperation and un-controlled situations, when                  the characters facial expressions should be a key aspect in the desperate times.
Message: The message behind the film could be that no matter what you try you cannot take over the                 world and you don't need super hero's to save you.

The genre conventions that I will use will be to have an all male crew of protagonists who don't live ordinary lives in a city and desert island which can help with dispersing the story across different settings and so different props and actions will be taken in the deserty town to the main city. I would also like to involve some comedic elements to the story in order to not make it totally serious. I would also like to include so action and mystery elements to keep the story interesting with fight scenes but also to have a mystical vibe to keep the audience guessing what the true storyline is.

Equilibrium - The crew of people are going along with their own lives doing things together and                                separately as they normally would. The intelligence agency is also going well with no                          disruptions or threats until the next stage.
Disruption - One day a few of the crew are together taking care of some 'business' when from out of                        nowhere the driver of the car gets shot and the car crashes into a low wall by the side of                      the road the guys get out to see a man on top of a building holding a sniper rifle walking                      away after taking the driver out. Then a day or 2 later one of the crew members gets a                          call from the hacker telling him they have some more business that needs tending to and                      that as always there's money in it for them so they accept mainly for the money.
Discovery - The crew's discovery of the disturbance comes when they go with the hacker to meet the                     client with work, who lets onto them that it was a well know mercenary group who are                         planning on taking over an intelligence agency in order to gain more power and so the                         mission is to go and stop them, he also tells the crew that the 'merc' where the ones who                       killed their driver, when in fact it was him but the crew don't know it was him and                                 believe that it was the 'Mercs'.
Attempt - The attempt to solve comes when the crew stop the 'Mercs' raiding the intelligence agency                    and hold off the reinforcements, then they are told that they were commanded by a                                Russian submarine which is believed to have a revolutionist who is planning to take over                    the city and must be stopped. After eventually getting to him they discover that the guy                        giving them the task in the first place was planning on taking over the world and the past                      missions were to set the crew up to waste time while he build a clone army of droids to                        help take over the world, then the crew must now stop him and is based in a abandoned                        launch silo that is holding a nuke which could wipe out a whole continent. They kill him                      after lots more hard work, they return a few things to the intelligence agency who pay                          them and tell then to go on their way and to try be more lawful and law biding citizens.
Equilibrium/2 - The crew burry the driver and then go on their way to plan a few new business deals                            which were to be made to look lawful but in turn weren't because they crew didn't                                want to change there lifestyle.

The crew are the hero's because they are the ones running around doing the dirty work.
The guy with world dominations plans is the villain because well the plans he has.
The Doner is the Russian spy because he give the crew intel on the villain revelling that he is the villain.
The helper is the intelligence agency because they supply the crew with weapons and vehicle that the crew need to succeed .
The Princess is the money that the crew receive after the main mission is completed.
The Dispatcher is the hacker and the villain because both of them send the crew on their missions.
The princesses farther is the intelligence agency because they are the people paying for the crew to go out an do these missions.
The false hero are the Russian guy and the intelligence agency because they don't actually go out and do the hard work, but still help in their own ways.
Doomsday

I have chosen this as the name because it really sums up the whole story and does it in one simple and descriptive word, Doomsday.

Synopsis:
A Crack team of criminals are set out on a small task to earn some money but that expands into a bigger task in an attempt to subdue a Russian spy/revolutionist before embarking on the a task to save the world and humanity from a robot and his A.I and his huge clone army that commanded them on their first 2 task, but will they succeed? Only the strong will find out.

1 The shot should involve the character going to get some food from the kitchen and should then eat it to show that they were hungry.

2 This shot should involve the character looking around and every so often in between dialogue lines they should be calling the cats name to show that they have lost a pet.

3 The shots for the character should be of the yawning but in a way to symbolise that they are tired and not that if someone is talking and they are finding it boring.

4 These shot could have the character looking tense and eager to leave for school in order to not be late, they should also be in a uniform of such and have a bag, coat and shoes on to show that they are about to leave.

5 To capture the character being annoyed with another they should be glancing at them with disgust to show this annoyance with the other character with out using the expressive words of 'annoying'.

The crew have got to a huge silo where the robot guy with his A.I. are presumed and when they get there they chase him out on jet packs to kill him.

In the elevator
'Suit Guy': Right just be ready lad we could be armed, fire at us or flee we must be ready for anything

There is a small ding and a voice saying "Base of the launch silo"

'Merc 1': Doors about to open on guard !

The elevator doors slide open revealing the base of the nuclear missile.

'Underwear guy': Holly hell that's huge
'Suit Guy': He's over there on one of the jet pack
'Underwear Guy': Jesus is he on a jet pack ?
'Merc 1' Yes there the …..(The name of the intelligence agency)'s prototypes and they will likely need them back after were done with him.

As 'Suit guy' shouts this out the robot guy lifts of with the jet pack and fly's towards the crew,

Robot Guy: You boys are no match for me and …..(The A.I's Name(Currently undecided)) we will take over the world and you can't stop us! ( After shouting us he immediately takes into the sky out of the top of the now open launch silo)

'Merc 1': Don't just stand here lets get after him
Psycho : Well how are we going to chase after him ?!
'Merc 1' With these ( He says heading towards where the robot was first seen on the jet pack, and noticing a handful more jet packs) hop on lets go, go, go.

The crew each hop onto their own jet pack and manoeuvre out of the launch silo around to nuke and after the robot who is in the distance with back-up helicopters.

I think that I have made a good start to the scene above but will expand on it to include more details about the launch silo and nuke that is inside, this is one of the final scenes of the movie. I would also like to come up wit some names for these characters but have just used a short description for them now to give them their line. I think my Synopsis worked well because it was under the 200 word limit and also describes the events of the story but not in enough detail to give away the story line too much.

A Twitter account was made where there were testers and trailers posted, on July 12th 2018 a picture of the monster breathing an atomic breath skywards as well as 2 actors and some of the rough plot points. 8 days later another trailer was released and was about 1 of the 2 actors mentioned 8 days before. Then in October 2018 another trailer was released. Then again in November another trailer was released, and an image of the monster was released on the Twitter page. Next in December more teaser trailers this one about Mothra and 2 others, then on the 9th of December a premier for another trailer was held at an comic con event.  On December 13th, posters for Mothra and the 2 others were released. Then in January a photo of one of the others from the December trailer was released ( king ghidorah).  Then in February 4 new posters for Godzilla, Mothra and 2 others were released to celebrate Chinese new year. In March 2019 the film was featured on the cover of total film magazine which revealed exclusive photos and information. In April of 2019 the main cinema poster/cover was released, then the 23rd of April the final teaser trailer was released online. in May of 2019 a Godzilla head was made on the Cinerama dome to promote the movie.

Movie posters might be different for different countries because different countries speak different languages and have different time zones so each movie poster has to be different for different countries.

See the source image

Dunkirk:

Releases 21st July, with the tag line/quote, 'When 400,000 men couldn't come home home came for them'. The background picture suggests that the film takes place in a winter setting during a war, with Christopher Nolan as the star / lead name. The genre conventions suggest that the movie is a disaster because of the character facial expression and the smoke behind him.

See the source image

Mandela:
Releases 3rd of January 2014 with the tag line/quote ' Long walk to freedom '. The picture shows the main character played by Idris Elba with him and Naomie Harris as both stars/lead names. The film is likely a disaster/tragedy because it is about Nelson Mandela's life which he was famous for having a bad life but then turning it around, The is also a quote from a newspaper/critic ' Idris Elba give a towering performance, a Mandela for the ages'.

The main differences between the posters are that Dunkirk has a photo from the movie while Mandela has a photo of only the main character. Mandela has a newspaper/critic review and tag line while Dunkirk has only a tag line. I think there are differences because one films is a biographical and the other is a war film.

Fast and furious Hobbs and Shaw:
The trailer uses lots of clips from the fight scenes as well as comedic moments in order to not make the film look to serious. Then they show 3 of the big name actors, Dawne Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Ebla.

Fast and furious 9:
The trailer starts with a family moment and then escalates to some chase scenes and then to fight scenes before revelling the main enemy is one of the main characters brothers and that they are teaming up with the main bad guy from the last movie to try and take the group down.

Capone:
The trailer starts off with a few flash back looking scenes which transition into scenes of blood and bodies on the floor, then some text explaining the al Capone was America's most notorious gangster' to then gun shots, then him relaxing in his house, then a theory is brought up which is expected to be an act which the police/government are trying to catch him out on. Then they show and put it that he's hiding money but no-one not even Capone knows where it is, then it cuts to some scene of what looks like paranoia where he finds someone who was hiding in his house and then it cuts to the next few scenes, where he is all bloody and he is stepping over bodies on the floor, then then next scene is him out side where people are shooting from a car and more scenes of him just wondering around, 1 an alligator coming up to home, then the next him firing a gun.

L/O: To develop an effective film marketing strategy

I would release my movie in August because it is the summer holidays and many school children will be off of school and their parents would be taking them out and about and so would have time to go and see the movie.

My TA would be Teens to early adults because these are the people who I think would be most interested in this genre of film and so would be able to see it in the summer when they are off of school/Uni.

I would be releasing my film on the 14th August, this is because it is half way between the summer holiday and so for the first half of their holiday people could be anticipating the film and talking to all their friends about it, then once the film has been released

I think that this movie is a disaster movie and they have included some of the more thrilling scene in the trailer to make the trailer more interesting. The trailer links to the poster because the trailer mainly focuses on the man in the poster and his journey.

1. Inception, because it must have been a big movie similar to Tenet and because it hit its ten year anniversary.

2 The marketing in India was different because of the different languages spoken, different time zones and scenes that might have to be cut because of government or religious bans.

3 July 31st 2020 was the release date for the trailer after being pushed back from the 17th because of the Corona Pandemic. I think these were done at different times because it would make more sense to celebrate inceptions anniversary first and then release a new movie, and to not let the anticipation of the movie die because people wouldn't be able to go and watch the film so when it came out there wouldn't be a minority going to see the film.

4 The Tv spot deferred from the rest because it was advertised in an online game.

The movie has been advertised with 7 trailers and 93 images, as well as a poster, seen on the left.

I would display the poster for my film at cinemas, so that people who are going to see other movies will be able to see the poster for my movie and i would also release photos of the poster on the social medias because they are very widely used and this would be a wide spread advertisement that lots of people could see in any country.

As for the trailer I would release this a few days after the posters are released because that would give time for people to see the posters and then talk about the, and I would advertise the trailer on social media, Television adverts and YouTube because these platforms are the most view and so there would be a wide spread view, I would release the trailer around 24th of July because that leaves about 3 weeks before the movies release date and so this would leave enough time for people to break down the trailer and experience the movie briefly before it actually releases.
